- Using gretl for Principles of Econometrics, 3rd edition
This book is a manual for using gretl suitable for
use in an introductory econometrics class. It has been
written specifically for Hill, Griffiths, and Lim's Principles of Econometrics, 3rd edition,
published by John Wiley and Sons, 2008. In the book, I show
you how to use gretl to work all of the examples in POE. The data
for the examples is packaged for installation into gretl and can be
found by following the links below. Click here for errata.
- Gretl Data Sets for
Principles
of Econometrics, 3rd edition. This is a self-installing Windows program that will put these
datasets into the c:\program files\gretl\data\poe directory. If you
prefer, here is a zip file with the same data sets in it. Linux users can find the data files here.

- Carter Hill's Principles of Econometrics, 3rd edition site.
This informative site has links to various datasets used in POE.
Did you know that you can directly import Stata datasets into
gretl? Well, if the data were saved in Stata's version 9 format,
simply drag the Stata data file into gretl and you are ready to go.
The Stata datasets are being hosted by the Stata Corp and can be downloaded here.
